Van Project - Framing is Done!

Image
Framing is all done and the van is ready for insulation - spray foam is going in this week! Here's the framing over the wheel wells.   The bed will be above here with  storage and propane and batteries next to the wells. The framing for both ceiling vents.

Van Project - Sketches!

Here are some sketch ideas from the builder - what do you think?  I have a few favorites and I'm glad he's willing to be flexible as we get into this van project - I know we'll find our way as we go and this 136" van will give use the living space we need. Which of these is your favorite? A few are the same layout, just viewing from a different angle.  You can see the bed platform in each sketch and the wheel wells for perspective in most of them. Overhead cabinets, floor to ceiling cabinets, sliding door cabinet - all the storage options!

Van Project - Wall Studs!

Glue on wall supports are going in strong! This is a slow process, gluing on the wood structure, setting the braces in place and waiting for the glue to dry. Good thing we have nothing but time!  Dustyn's putting in some long hours  and late nights between family, camp  planning, jeep projects and wood glue! Know what this is? framing for the roof vents - oh yesssss.

Van Project - Planning!

On our way to discuss build ideas for the van - we thought a little welcome to the project bottle would be a good idea (turned out to be less than awesome for a Whiskey drinker who's wife just found out she's having twins.) Lots of plans and sketches and grand ideas.

Van Project - Living Room is Started!

Swivel seats are installed - here's the beginning of our living room! Both captain chairs swivel from front facing to rear facing with pretty minimal work. Manipulating the drivers seat around the steering wheel take a bit of maneuvering is all. These don't lock in the rear facing mode, so you can swing from side to side a bit, too.

Van Project - It is Started!

Trigger and I bought a van today! He's pretty thrilled as you can see and spent most of the short drive to the builder's garage in the front seat. Up next - building plans!
